Adam R. Cowhey graduated from the University of Illinois in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the College of Business and Administration. While at the University of Illinois, Mr. Cowhey was active in numerous campus organizations including Volunteer Illini Projects, Pre-Law Club and the Alpha Tau Omega social fraternity where he served as the head judicial chair. In 2003, Mr. Cowhey received his Juris Doctorate degree from the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. While in law school, Mr. Cowhey was awarded the Excellence In Future Award for civil litigation strategy and was a member and wrote for the Journal of Sports Law and Contemporary Problems.
In 2003, Mr. Cowhey began working as an associate with Rafool & Rafool, P.A., in central Florida, specializing in complex family law matters and domestic disputes. Mr. Cowhey advanced to the senior associate with the firm, handling all aspects of litigation and client representation. While in central Florida, Mr. Cowhey was a member of the Willson American Inns of Court and co-authored “Legal Effects of Cohabitation”, Adoption, Paternity, And Other Florida Family Law Practice, Florida Bar practice series/treatise, 2005.
In October 2006, Mr. Cowhey was invited to join a well-established law firm in Tallahassee, Florida. Soon after, The Florida Bar appointed Mr. Cowhey to the Florida Family Law Rules Committee where he remains an active participant.
In January 2009, Mr. Cowhey opened Adam R. Cowhey, P.A., and specializes in all areas of marital and family law representation. He is dedicated to aggressively representing his clients, while at the same time understanding the stress and difficulties associated with divorce and other family law matters. Mr. Cowhey takes a “hands-on” approach to all aspects of the case and passionately represents each and every client.Besides being an active participant in numerous area clubs and events, Mr. Cowhey also serves as the Vice Chairman of Leads Group A, a business networking group of the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and Access Tallahassee.
Mr. Cowhey currently authors Chapter 11 (Parenting Plan, Parental Responsibility, And Time-Sharing) of the Florida Dissolution Of Marriage (12th Edition)-published in 2015.
Mr. Cowhey resides in Tallahassee with his wife and two sons. While not advocating for his clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and participating in area events, activities and sports.
